In October this year, the IPCC will launch a new report on climate consequences of additional 1,5 and 2 degree global warming, compared with pre-industrial global temperatures. Today, the Norwegian Research Council, the Environmental Agency, Cicero and the Bjerknes Centre will hold a seminar on the coming special report and the results of five Norwegian research projects relevant to the report.

When the world agreed upon the Paris Agreement in December 2015, they also asked the IPCC of a special report on the consequences of additional 1,5 and 2 degree global warming. The IPCC accepted the challenge and the report will be launched on October 8 this year.
In 2015, research on consequences of a world in 1,5 and 2 degree global warming was carried out, and the differences between these temperature situations were investigated.
In Norway, the Norwegian Research Council allocated funding for research that could feed into the special report. Five research projects were funded, and new results on response in the climate system in these two temperature scenarios.
At the seminar today, Tuesday, June 5, the results of the five research projects will be presented.
