Eystein Jansen
Palaeoclimatology - Main method: Marine proxies. Area/ Region: North Atlantic, Arctic, Southern Ocean.
Professor Jansen is Academic Director for the Academia Europaea Bergen Knowledge Hub and Vice President of the European Research Council (ERC) and a member of Academia Europaea, the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters, The Norwegian Academy of Technological Sciences and the Norwegian Scientific Academy for Polar Research. Jansen was one of the founders of the Bjerknes Centre in 2000, and resigned as Director in 2014 after 13 years in the position. His research focuses on paleoclimate and natural climate change, and he was one of the lead authors of IPCC's Fifth Assessment Report. Jansen was in 2019 awarded the Brøgger prize and the Meltzer prize for excellence in research.

Professor Jansen har vært med Bjerknessenteret siden det ble opprettet i 2000, og i 2014 gikk han av som direktør ved Bjerknessenteret etter 13 år. Han har særlig arbeidet med fortidsklima og de naturlige klimaendringene, og var hovedforfatter i begge de to siste rapportene til FNs Klimapanel (IPCC).
Jansen er direktør for Academia Europaea Bergen Knowledge Hub og visepresident ved det Europeiske forskningsråd (ERC).
