Heather Cannaby
As a member of the ecosystem processes research group at IMR, I utilize coupled physical-ecosystem models to investigate the impact of climate variability and climate change on biophysical interactions in marine ecosystems. My research foci include:
- Assessing how ocean warming and coastal water darkening impact plankton community composition and predator-prey interactions.
- Ecosystem model development
- Understanding how the Barents Sea ecosystem is adapted to extensive interannual variability in sea ice extent and how sea ice loss impacts production, bloom phenology and community composition
- Assessing how changes to large-scale circulation fields impact the advective dispersion of plankton and fish eggs and larvae.
- Investigating the implications of ocean acidification for plankton community composition and fisheries recruitment.
