I am a numerical modeller, and in my research I look at the interactions between climate and ice sheets, particularly in regions like Greenland and Antarctica. To do this, over the last few years I worked towards coupling ice sheet models and global climate models. In this way, we can explore processes and feedback mechanisms between climate change and ice sheets, providing a comprehensive framework for future climate and sea level projections.
At the moment, my biggest research endeavour is to couple a dynamic Antarctic ice sheet component within the IPCC-type global Norwegian Earth System Model (NorESM), with the goal of improving our understanding of ice-ocean processes and feedbacks in Antarctica. In my most recent research, I’ve also combined global Earth system models and ice sheet models to look at the response of the Greenland ice sheet to sustained warming and climate overshoot scenarios.
