Bjerknessenterets mål er å forstå klima
til nytte for samfunnet.

Bjørg Risebrobakken

I want to understand how and why climate have changed in the past, and what we can learn from the past that may have implications for future climate. I have a primary focus on high Northern latitudes. My work is directed towards: 1) Reconstructing the oxygenation history of western Norwegian fjords, to provide baseline knowledge on the natural variability of fjord bottom water renewal. 2) Improved understanding of glacial abrupt Arctic climate changes and relevance for future. 3) Past warm climate changes in the Arctic. My experience includes studies of past warm climate states like Pliocene, Eemian and Holocene, as well as investigations of glacial climate, deglaciations and other climate transitions.I have a preference for multi-proxy studies, integrating available regional information, from ocean and land. I have worked together with climate modellers and instrumentalists on past, present and future climate questions and appreciate how such collaborations add to the dynamical and mechanistically understanding.
